About Scripture Lens

Built to help readers slow down, look closely, and follow the text.

Scripture Lens is an independently developed Bible-study app for individuals, families, teachers, and groups. Reading is public and free; an account is optional for people who want supported synchronization and group features.

The purpose

Bible-study tools are most useful when they lead readers back to the passage. Scripture Lens therefore keeps the biblical text central and opens explanations, original-language information, cross-references, maps, historical background, and personal tools around it.

The app is designed to make deeper study approachable without pretending that a lexicon entry, timeline, commentary note, or AI answer is identical to Scripture.

The commitments

  • Keep Scripture text visually distinct from summaries and interpretation.
  • Let readers study words in every translation, read the full available lexical meanings, and open supported matches directly while keeping a chooser for ambiguous wording.
  • Show sources, licenses, confidence labels, and important disagreements.
  • Describe “authorial intent” as evidence-based interpretation rather than private certainty.
  • Protect private notes and avoid sending them to interface translation or marketing measurement.
  • Correct errors openly through the in-app feedback system and detailed version history.

Who it serves

Scripture Lens is intended for personal reading, family study, homeschooling, Sunday school, small groups, sermon preparation, and anyone learning how literary context and original-language tools contribute to interpretation.

It is not affiliated with a denomination, Bible publisher, Koinonia House, Chuck Missler, BibleProject, Bible.is, Bolls, OpenBible.info, or the authors of linked historical sources. Those names identify sources or external resources, not endorsements.

Cost and support

There is no charge to open and read Scripture Lens. Voluntary Venmo support helps with hosting, data, and continued development but does not unlock special biblical content. Contributions are not represented as charitable or tax-deductible.
